Chalupa by Hirschler
Traditional oil painting on canvas, 24 x 30 cm. Started it outdoors and finished it in the studio from photos.
Mal by Hirschler
Something I started working on when Blizzard Entertainment had a contest to promote the release of their "Reaper of Souls" expansion to their video game "Diablo III". I chose to picture a Crusader (a new character class introduced in the expansion) confronting the new boss of the baddies Malthael, Angel of Death. Photoshop CS5, Wacom tablet w/ stylus.

Did you ever have one of those days where you can barely find the energy to stare at videos all day? Digital painting with Photoshop.
Knit-o-saurus by Hirschler
A dinosaur knitting. Any questions? The initial drawing was done in pencil on plain copier paper which was then scanned and inked and colored digitally using both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

I've been looking to get a full-time job related to animation and illustration. This is a little character created as part of the job application process for one such job. They required the drawing to be created in Adobe Illustrator™. I did the preliminary sketches by hand though using the old analog tool known as a "pencil" then I scanned the image and opened it in Illustrator. I created my own custom brush for the inking because my old version of Illustrator doesn't seem to have any brushes that load automatically and those that are available in the built-in brush libraries don't act anything like a simple round sable. Isn't it somewhat absurd to have a program called Illustrator that doesn't open with a working brush tool? I'm enjoying the results even if I find the whole process to be bewildering. All the tutorial videos I've scrounged have been most helpful.
